Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 September 2026
The Tutor Resource is operated by Our Offbeat Life LLC, a limited liability company registered in Nevada, United States. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
1. What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address and a hashed password. If you subscribe, we store which plan you are on and when it renews.
What you put in the platform. Records you create about your own students: names or nicknames, level, lesson history, session notes and skill ratings, placement test results, scheduled sessions, and lesson credit balances. We treat this as yours. See section 4.
Messages you send us. If you use the contact form we store your name, email address, message and the IP address the message came from. The IP is kept only to rate limit the form and investigate abuse.
Technical logs. Ordinary server logs from our hosting provider, which include IP addresses and request information.
2. What we do not collect
It is worth being specific, because our previous policy was not:
- No analytics or advertising trackers. There are no third-party analytics scripts, advertising pixels or tracking cookies on this site, which is why you are not asked to accept cookies.
- No card numbers. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.
- No identity documents, photographs, government ID, date of birth, race, ethnicity or gender.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account and give you the parts of the platform your plan includes.
- To take payment and manage subscriptions.
- To send messages about your account, and marketing email you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To keep the service working and to prevent abuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
4. Your students’ data
This is the part most worth reading. When you record a student on the platform, you decide what to enter and why. You are responsible for having a proper basis for holding it, for telling the student or their parent that you do, and for the accuracy of what you write. We hold and process it on your behalf and for no other purpose. We do not contact your students, market to them, or use their records to train anything.
Students do not have accounts and cannot sign in. Where a student is a child, the relationship is between you and their parent or guardian, and any consent needed is yours to obtain. If a parent contacts us directly about a record, we will refer them to you and tell you they asked.
If you close your account, the student records you created go with it. See section 7.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of providers to run the service, and each one only receives what it needs:
- Supabase hosts the database, authentication and file storage. Data is stored in the United States.
- Stripe processes payments and holds card details. We receive only the result of a payment and the last four digits.
- Google provides the Gemini models behind the assisted drafting features. When you use the Teaching Assistant, the feedback writer, the homework creator or report translation, the text you supply for that request is sent to Google to produce the result.
- Resend sends account and service email.
- Loops sends marketing and lifecycle email, and holds your name, email address and plan.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you marketing. Most of it you can do yourself from your account settings. For anything else, email contact@thetutorresource.com. We aim to reply within 30 days and we will not treat you differently for asking.
California. You have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of and no “Do Not Sell” link on this site.
Nevada. We do not sell covered personal information as Nevada law defines it.
United Kingdom, European Economic Area and Switzerland. Your data is transferred to and stored in the United States. You may object to processing, ask us to restrict it, ask for portability, and complain to your data protection authority.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: for as long as the account is open. Delete the account and we remove it, except where we must keep records for tax or legal reasons.
- Contact messages: up to two years, so we can follow up on a conversation.
- IP addresses attached to contact messages: 90 days, then removed.
- Payment records: as long as tax law requires, which is generally seven years.
8. Security
Access to your data is restricted by row level security at the database, so one tutor cannot read another’s records. Passwords are hashed and we never see them. Card details never reach us. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email you or place a notice in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
