Wonderful Kindergarten – Level 1 (monthly)

Description

Children love to talk about their friends! Through this unit, our students will learn what it means to be a friend! Students will learn the vocabulary word, friend, through pictures and songs. Students will read three short stories that contain the high frequency words: ‘the’ and ‘can’. Together, you and your student will discuss things that you can do (ex: I can swim, run, walk, etc). At the end of each lesson, the students will listen to or read a story about a bear and his friends. The students can discuss the pictures and what the animal friends enjoy doing together. Throughout this unit, students will also learn about feeling words: happy, sad, angry, tired, excited, and worried. They will be given the opportunity to discuss how they feel and draw a face with the given feeling word. Within this unit, students will practice the sound /m/ using various pictures. They will also learn how to properly write the letter Mm! In lesson 2, students will also practice common classroom objects (pencil, pen, book, etc) and learn to create a complete sentence: It’s a pencil. Students will be given opportunities to read, sing, draw, and match throughout all three lessons!
